Disfunções temporomandibulares: análise da prevalência dos sintomas e os achados de ressonância magnética em pacientes sintomáticos

Resumo

O objetivo do estudo foi estimar a prevalência dos sintomas e das disfunções temporomandibulares (DTMs) em pacientes sintomáticos submetidos à ressonância magnética (RM). Foi realizada uma análise retrospectiva envolvendo 2.076 articulações temporomandibulares (ATMs) de 1.038 pacientes sintomáticos submetidos a RM. Foram avaliadas a prevalência dos sintomas relatados e as DTMs identificadas nas imagens de RM, de acordo com critérios radiológicos padronizados. As mulheres (85,8%) superam a proporção de homens (14,2%) sintomáticos de DTM nas solicitações de RM. Os sintomas mais prevalentes foram: A dor miofascial (53,4%), dor na ATM (28,4%), dor ao mastigar (14,0%), Cefaleia (13,9%), Otalgia (7,7%); Estalo (7,6%); Limitação de abertura bucal (6,6%). A prevalência dos achados de RM foram: normal (39,4%); Deslocamento do disco sem redução (20,6%); Degeneração do côndilo (20,3%); Deslocamento do disco com redução (14,2%); Diminuição da translação condilar (13,3%). Observou-se predominância feminina entre os pacientes sintomáticos encaminhados para RM. Os sintomas mais prevalentes foram: dor miofascial, dor na ATM e dor ao mastigar. As DTMs mais prevalentes foram: deslocamento do disco sem redução, degeneração do côndilo e deslocamento do disco com redução.
